Job description
Job Overview:
This individual will drive innovation in how the products and solutions are taken to market.
Job Functions
The position is for candidates with strong ability to define, deliver and grow customized and localized solutions as a
business.
1. Evangelize market innovation: Given this is a new group / offering, this individual will be responsible for driving
awareness with key constituents on what, how, why etc. and generating demand
2. Determining which solutions to deliver: During the startup / ramp up phase, this team can only deliver a few solutions.
This individual will be responsible for determining which solutions to focus on and which ones to reject / defer. It is
anticipated that most of the requests will have to be rejected / deferred and this individual needs to communicate that
diplomatically to the key stakeholders.
3. Partner with key stakeholders: This individual will have to partner with several stakeholders such as – sales force,
GSS personnel, GSC personnel, finance, custom solutions engineering, product managers for the standard products,
marketing etc.
4. Track / report / correct / scale: This individual will be responsible for tracking and reporting on how the solutions are
doing, determine what is working well, where and why and taking corrective actions as necessary to scale the business.

- Visionary: Charts a comprehensive vision for market innovations. Understands customers’ needs, technology trends,
competitive landscape and leverages Hitachi’s technological and GTM strengths to drive total revenue for HDS.
- Inclusive / bring others with him / her: Has respect for divergent and sometimes conflicting views / interests and ensures
collaboration. Moves all stakeholders towards common goal
- Diplomacy: Is able to work with teams that are opposed to his / her ideas and is able to develop and execute a win-win
solution.
- Execution focused: Takes ownership and delivers results – even when he/she does not have full authority over all
aspects of the business.
- Methodical: is able to look at a problem / opportunity in a holistic manner, develop options pros/cons and come up with a
rational recommendation that has the best possible chance of success in Hitachi’s environment.
- Reporting / communication: periodically communicates the success / challenges of the overall project to different
stakeholders with appropriate level of detail.
- Attitude: Has a positive, can-do attitude. Does not allow minor bumps in the road discourage him/her or the team.
- Removes roadblocks for the team and gets them excited about tackling the challenges head on.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Minimum 15 years of IT products / solutions experience
- Manages this as a business and takes responsibility for delivering results without making excuses.
- Able to influence others without direct authority and brings others with him / her
- Humble – willing to listen and learn.
- Makes, and follows through on, commitments
- Takes ownership for, and learns from, mistakes.
- Must have delivered substantial results
- Has started and grew a new product, solution or a new route to market
- Must have excellent writing and communication skills.
- Should be able to think and act holistically
- Must have impeccable integrity
- Experience in gathering, organizing and prioritizing requirements.
- Is a self starter – determines what needs to be done and makes recommendation to senior leadership on what needs to
be done; does not wait for someone to tell him / her what to do.
- Other: Include span of control (# of direct reports), budget control, scope of influence, impact of errors.
- Will manage direct reports or direct budget responsibility
- Travel expected to be in excess of 50%
