Job Description
This newly-created role will be responsible for planning, development and delivery of strategic communications to support GSK’s Classic and Established Portfolio. This will include product-specific or therapy area programmes which enhance understanding and build trust with key stakeholders, and protect the reputation of GSK, as well as provide external and internal communications support for our Classic and Established business, including support for the CEP Leadership Team based out of Singapore.
Key Responsibilities -
• Delivery of global external communications plans which are aligned to the overall commercial strategy for the CEP business to protect and enhance the reputation of GSK and to drive business performance
• Provide senior level communications counsel and strategic advice to the Classic and Established Products Leadership Team
• Lead and take a hands-on approach when necessary to organise face-to-face, TC, broadcast, virtual and/or digital communication opportunities, as appropriate, with leaders across the business
• Ensure ongoing engagement with communicators across the network to ensure consistent and successful implementation of comms plans, and support localisation
• Proactively engage relevant media about the business as needed
• Seek opportunities to enhance the use of digital channels in our external Pharma communications
• Anticipate and prepare for medicine / therapy area reputational risks or issues to enable rapid appropriate mitigation strategies
• Leading on provision of communications support and material development
• Represent the needs / opinions of the CEP business within Global Communications
• Line management of Communications Manager
Core Deliverables and Outputs -
• Communications plans and materials to support external communications activities that support and appropriate usage and understanding of our medicines
• Development of communications materials (including approval and dissemination), ensuring quality, tone and adherence with global policies
• Provide communications input into strategic launch planning meetings, ensuring clear accountability for communications launch preparation activities.
• Contribute to the creation of an integrated internal communications plan, as part of the overall communications strategy
• Engage / provide support for other Therapy Area stakeholders across GSK (such as Regional Communication Networks and investor relations as needed)
• Support, as needed, development of relevant, factual and content-rich plans for products on GSK digital platforms ensuring compliance with digital governance and regulations
• Plan and coordinate content and logistics for major town hall and broadcast events for franchises/global businesses
• Measure and report on programme progress, outcomes and effectiveness of communications channels
Accountability -
• Reporting to the Communications Head, Specialty Pharma Franchise, Rare Diseases and Established Portfolio, and accountable to the Head of the Classic and Established Products Business at GSK
• Member of Commercial Networks and Regional Communication Networks
• Key LOC Communicators with responsibility for related CEP brands
Complexity -
• Requires excellent organisational and project management skills, to ensure effective delivery and keep stakeholders informed and involved as appropriate
• Matrix working; must be capable of influencing and inspiring key stakeholders, to contribute to the development of and implementation of communication strategies and plans
• High reputational exposure, therefore anticipation and proactive preparation for communication issues, triggers and opportunities is fundamental to the role
• Scientific complexity, complex legal and regulatory environment
• Delivering external results, while providing internal communications guidance Bachelors degree or equivalent
