Job Description
The Marketing Director, LSG APJ is a senior business leader responsible for regional marketing strategies, and operations. The position is responsible for creating and leading sustainable market leadership positions for LSG in APJ. Working across business units, global/corporate, regional organisations, and external partners, the position is responsible for coordinating and driving the effective and efficient implementation of the LSG “go to market” strategy and goals to deliver on the regions’ market and financial commitments. He/She will have responsibility for an organisation of ~55 employees (includes direct and dotted line responsibility). This position is a key member of the APJ leadership team.


The Marketing Director will regularly interface with other members of the commercial and regional leadership teams, as well as the business platform VPs and business platform market development leaders. In addition, the position will partner with leaders in R&D, operations, global marketing and external distributor/dealer partners, region agency network and other external partners and providers to deliver a superior customer experience.

He/She will provide leadership in setting the regional market deployment strategy in APJ in order to deliver the company’s revenue and margin commitments and strategically deploy revenue generating, customer centric programs aligned with the region and company strategy. In addition, the position will be responsible for partnering with the APJ leadership team and platform leaders to ensure regional marketing strategies are met with sales force effectiveness, price optimization, a profitable portfolio mix, targeted promotions, and an effective channel strategy.

Focus: Strategic marketing programs & processes that drive demand across the region
Lead the regions’ cross-functional efforts to establish a leadership position for LSG in the APJ market and targeted sub-segments.
Develop and deliver strategic marketing programs that drive demand across APJ
Deliver the strategic direction and plans to meet financial commitments through an integrated customer, segment, brand, category, and route-to-market strategy for the region.
Localize worldwide goals to the region and country level, and track performance against established metrics.
Negotiate, define, manage, and monitor, all appropriate marketing campaigns for the region.
Working with global/corporate and the BUs, establish a clear and consistent messaging framework for region, country, and partner activities.
Establish regional operating mechanisms and processes that build alignment across APJ and with the BUs.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Company’s and various BU’s business strategies to leverage the technology (platform) investments of the BUs with the assets and capabilities of the region.

Focus: Category and segment management
Deliver financial and market commitments by region, category, and customer segment on a quarterly and annual basis.
Define and execute marketing performance management processes across the region.
Provide robust customer requirements/input to the product development/NPI process.
Maintain competitive and market intelligence communication flows between the field team and the marketing groups (regions, platforms, corporate, etc.).
Track performance against established metrics. Drive the critical measurement and tracking activities including market size, market share, customer satisfaction, and ROI, etc.
Lead the development of, and support the implementation of, the integrated regional channel strategy for the LSG portfolio.
Manage the region marketing system, linking with global/corporate, BU, and partner marketing organizations.

Focus: Customer engagement/experience
Drive the activities needed to create awareness and preference for LSG’s value offerings, and for the generation of the programs and leads to build the funnel, shorten the sales cycle, close business, and meet financial targets.
Lead the strategy and execution of activities to assist current customers in succeeding in their research/businesses, generating additional revenue opportunities, and selling in additional LSG products and solutions.
Drive the execution of brand strategies and deliverables in the local region clusters and countries building positive awareness and preference, driving higher NPS scores.

Focus: Marketing cost management
Ensure that the annual regional marketing plan is in line and achievable with the expected funding levels.
Establish processes to manage marketing funds allocation and track spending for the region.

Focus: Region marketing functional leadership
Provide broad-based business and marketing function leadership across the region, across the company, and to the market.
Establish marketing and staffing priorities within the region, working with BU, global/corporate, and regional leadership. Member of the worldwide marketing council representing the region.
Create a talented and industry leading marketing team through the on-going development of marketing acumen, growth, and performance-based rewards systems.

Financial
Region revenue, gross margin, ASP and market share by category, by customer segment

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications


A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a Life Science or related discipline (Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or Biotechnology). MBA or other graduate degree preferred.
Ten (10) plus years of market development and or regional marketing experience including a minimum of 2 plus years of senior level leadership experience.
Prior hands on marketing leadership experience in a high SKU, broad range of volume environment.
Experience in both mature and emerging markets. Experience in both instruments/capital goods AND consumables is preferred.
Awareness and understanding of the Life Sciences including: regenerative medicine, molecular diagnostics, agricultural and environmental research, forensics, and sequencing.
