Director - Professional Services - VMware - Singapore


Job description
The Director, Professional Services will report directly to Vice President, Technical Services - APJ. He/she will share the responsibility for the P&L; of the ASEAN Technical Services delivery organization. He/she will be expected to help VP of Professional Services to manage and grow the organization including Professional Services Bookings, Revenue, Margin and HC across the Consulting, TAM, and Advisory Accelerate lines of business. The role will also be required set clear objectives for its personnel, develop and deploy sound “go-to-market” strategies and programs which will ultimately drive significant increases in market share and revenue.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

* Determine strategic and tactical operational plans relating to professional services function and initiatives

* Manage the P&L; for a complete book of business including Bookings, Revenue, Margin, Utilisation and Delivery Quality

* Establish credibility, develop and maintain effective relationships between the services function and other VMware business units, taking a strategic and proactive approach as a value added partner

* Identify new trends and creating strategic action plans to lead the team and our customers forward in the Software Defined Data Center and End User Computing

* Develop and maintain a dynamic resource capacity model to achieve required scale as the business changes

* Optimise use of internal resources, outside resources and service partners to achieve desired results

* Maintain staff by recruiting, training and developing top leadership and individual contributor talent

* Work with the professional services delivery team to deliver high-quality, results based customer experience across all customer engagements

* Continues to optimise internal processes, practices and quality standards

* Understand the competitive landscape and the impact to the solution and price

* Visit customer and prospective customers as needed

* Increase customer retention and expand existing accounts.

Candidate requirements:

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

* Is self-motivated, energetic, dedicated, driven, tenacious, achiever, well presented, able to communicate effectively at all levels

* Has been a leadership role for a services consulting organisation for 7+ years

* Proven track record of quota over-achievement in a highly competitive environment

* Proven ability to build relationships and effectively sell to senior executives and CIOs

* Must be a strategic thinker, while maintaining data driven operational discipline and rigor in the 90 day cycle

* Experience working within a matrix technology business, with proven expertise in engaging with a broad and diverse internal stakeholder base

* Ability to work effectively in a team setting and manage multiple large opportunities

* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, together with a natural flair for presenting to diverse audiences

* Ability to develop long-term strategic and executive level relationships

* Ensure that propositions are technically sound, deliverable, competitive and representative of market leadership in the application of technology to addressing business issues or outcomes

* Has a strong Business and financial acumen

* Industry knowledge in area’s including cloud technologies, virtualisation, end user computing and application modernisation

* Has the ability to travel up to 40% when required.
