Director - Decision Analytics - Visa - Singapore
Position Summary
The Decision Analytics Director is a key member of the Visa Decision Analytics team. This is a specialist role in big data driven modelling and strategic initiatives primarily for consulting but we will leverage this capability across rest of the function within Visa Analytics. As a senior manager you will responsible for performing predictive modelling, context based proto-typing and complex algorithm development in the big data space for enhancing data driven solutioning and business strategies. We have a highly collaborative process and you are required to work across multiple teams and functions for developing cutting edge, creative and advanced analytic solutions and processes.
The Decision Analytics team within Visa Analytics is responsible for blueprinting and delivering projects with the appropriate analytic methodologies and techniques to solve client’s business objectives. The team closely collaborates with other analytic stakeholders to understand the business problem in order to determine the most appropriate analytic approach that provides meaningful results to clients. Responsibilities include delivering projects on time and within scope with an in-depth knowledge of big data and cutting edge data mining techniques as well as the use of predictive, classification and alternate analytic algorithms for modeling and segmentation. These analyses are foundational to corroborate or refute stated hypotheses and are incorporated in the final client-facing solutions. The team is responsible for continuously creating and protecting analytic IP resulting from project learning
The Decision Analytics team is the engine of analytics at Visa; this is a high-performing team of data scientists, data analysts, statisticians, and business analysts from a variety of countries – serving the Asia Pacific, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa geographies. Visa Analytics is looking for a hands-on Senior manager, a person that earns trust and respect of the team. The Senior Manager must be results oriented, highly organized, and must, must be focused on delivering innovative analytics work.
Responsibilities
Lead a small/medium size agile team who can work with large and complex datasets to develop high quality analytic products and solutions to promote growth and business development for Visa Consulting. This role will also support Big data solutioning areas emerging from product and marketing function.
Help us staying at the forefront of technical advancement in data science and introducing cutting edge tools and techniques for generating business insights
Developing next-generation analytic techniques where existing techniques are not adequate enough to address business challenges
Reviewing, directing, guiding, inspiring the analytical work of Senior Business Analysts and Analysts
Provide leadership to identify strategic and tactical innovation opportunities around data and data related process for developing and refining solutions to improve fact based decisioning process
Help setting strategic direction and roadmap for Visa Analytics
Collaborate with technology partners to build an Analytics Technology Ecosystem that support advance decisioning system
Collaborating with the Client Solution Design and Analytics Business Partner leads to fully understand business requirements and help the team
Performing QA on data and deliverables by analysts and own deliverables
Ensuring all project documentation is up to date and all projects are reviewed per analytic plan
Managing team workload, providing prioritization guidance for the project flow conducted by the team to improve process efficiency
Qualifications
Professional
Minimum of 10+ years of analytical expertise in applying advance statistical solutions to business problems
5+ years of experience in big data modelling and analytics
At least three years’ experience managing people and projects
Post Graduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in Data Mining, Machine learning, Quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer Science, Economics, or engineering or equivalent experience
Demonstrated ability to incorporate new techniques to solve business problems
Understanding of Payments and Banking Industry including Consumer Credit, Consumer debit, Prepaid, Small Business, Commercial, Co-Brand and Merchant
Experience planning, organizing, and managing multiple large projects with diverse cross-functional teams
Technical
Extensive experience and expertise in distributed computing environments / big data platforms.
Extensive hands-on experience with Hadoop and MapReduce framework
Familiarity with common computing environment (e.g. Linux, Shell Scripting)
Strong programming ability in different programming languages such as Python, R, Java, Matlab, Pig, Hive or SQL
Advanced knowledge of API’s, JSON, BI concepts and processes (e.g. ETL, data aggregation and analysis) desired
Proficient in some or all of the following techniques: Linear & Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forests, K-Nearest Neighbors, Markov Chain Monte Carlo, Gibbs Sampling etc., Evolutionary Algorithms(e.g. Genetic Algorithms, Genetic Programming), Support Vector Machines, Neural Networks etc
Expert level knowledge of advanced data mining and statistical modeling: Predictive modeling techniques (e.g., binomial and multinomial regression, ANOVA); Classification techniques (e.g., Clustering, Principal Component Analysis, factor analysis); Decision Tree techniques (e.g., CART, CHAID)
Proficiency in SAS technologies and techniques
Deliver results within committed scope, timeline and budget
Very strong people/project management skills and experience
Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English

Results oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
Good business acumen with strong ability to solve business problems through data driven quantitative methodologies. Experience in payment, retail banking, or retail merchant industries is preferred

Very detailed oriented, is expected to ensure highest level of quality/rigor in reports & data analysis
Proven skills in translating analytics output to actionable recommendations, and delivery
