Job Description
This Sr Director role in the Digital Emerging Markets organization leads the creation of new mobile and digital payment solutions and has oversight on their in-market implementation in the Asia Pacific markets. Responsibilities include developing and commercializing of new digital products and solutions. These new solutions have to be deployed keeping in mind the evolving market, client and consumer needs with the objective of driving significant future market growth for Visa in emerging markets. The role holder must possess a unique blend of leadership and implementation skills as well have intimate understanding of payments, mobile technology, consumer behavior and Visa’s business. The role will work cross functionally with other global teams in delivering on the objectives. The role holder reports to Sr. Director, Digital Solutions, Digital Emerging Markets.
Responsibilities
Product/ Platform design
Thinking through the platform expansion plans and commercialization in focus Asia-Pacific markets. As subject matter expert, the role requires developing the knowledge base on these new solutions and customizing them for the local markets and developing industry best practices that can leveraged by local teams in many markets across Asia-Pacific
Go-to-market plans
Success of new solutions/platforms requires seamless execution based on carefully design market plans. This role leads in defining market plans for push payments with specific focus on defined target markets and solutions
Project Management
New solution rollout has complexities involving multiple stake holders and the projects have tight deadlines and executive accountability associated with it. Role holder will lead product interrelated project tasks and associated deadlines to ensure that they are met
Partner Management and building local accelerator partners
The role provides leadership and support for in-market partner and client relationship management. These solutions require rapid implementation while retaining flexibility for modification based on market insights and learning
Solution Deployment
Ensure effective solution implementation in market and pave the way for innovation rollout in unchartered territory. The role holder has to manage the delicate balance between technology, risk, social/ local elements and profitability – while “commercializing” these new solutions.
DECISION MAKING
The role supports the deployment of Visa’s global digital strategy, product management and development in emerging markets.
The role holder is charged with taking key decisions related to solution design, product strategy, product development, product partner engagement and client implementation support.
Given the newness of the solutions being deployed, candidate will require a high degree of business acumen and confidence in making analytical decisions that have no proven “formula” for success
Qualifications
Professional
10+ years’ work experience – prior experience in taking new products from the idea stage to commercial launch is preferred
Business degree and Technical education and background is advantageous
Project Management experience is strongly preferred
Extremely high value on direct exposure to digital payment solutions (mobile banking, payment cards).
Experience of working on digital solutions in the FI or Technology space
Fluency in written and spoken English
Technical
Understanding of Payments, Visa systems, Banking and Financial services, its platforms and commercial models
Knowledge of payment and mobile technology and its impact on emerging business models
Knowledge of Consumer behavior in Emerging markets
Knowledge of retail and its structure in emerging markets

The role requires an individual with a blend of business, technical, social and project oversight skills – and ideally with direct exposure to retail industry and payment solutions.
The aim of the new mobile and digital solutions is to penetrate and build new business volume and involves new technologies. Hence the role holder must be capable of providing thought leadership combining knowledge of payment system and digital technology.
Visa’s success with these new digital solutions depends significantly on building relationship with suppliers, vendors and local partners in the payment ecosystem. The role holder must accordingly possess good relationship management skills and ability to evaluate opportunity with partners.
In order to provide leadership in the project team on strategy, design and implementation of the solution, the individual must have good grounding in the socioeconomic trends and nuances in the markets.
This role requires coordination and execution of a complex project. Success in this role thus requires good organizational skills and facility for project management in unpredictable environments.
