The Role:

We are looking for a bright, driven and strategic person to take on a leading role as Director of Strategy for our key client – Google.

Google JAPAC is a large, varied, innovative and challenging account with activity ranging from highly targeted local direct response campaigns to brand campaigns and new product launches. This account spans significant, established markets with wide differences in cultures, behaviours and landscapes to rapidly growing new markets with significant challenges and opportunities.

The account covers a wide range of verticals, from B2B and consumer technology to entertainment and education. Essence manages hundreds of digital campaigns a year for Google JAPAC, using a mix of display, mobile, search and social media, working closely alongside partner agencies to deliver integrated campaigns. Although Essence is a digital-only agency, the role will involve working on multi-channel campaigns with partner agencies, and marketing strategy will include online and offline elements.

This specific role will be focusing on strategic planning for key products, including Google Play, Chrome, Nexus, Google + and YouTube. Whilst communications and media strategy are central to the role, the ideal candidate will go above and beyond this, influencing wider product and business objectives.

Working closely with the Digital Media Lead and Analytics Director, you will be tasked with devising, defining, presenting and executing marketing strategies for Google across JAPAC.

Based at Essence in Singapore, the role will involve regular visits to Google’s offices across JAPAC.

Some of the things we’d like you to do:

Define and deliver communications and media strategy across multi-channel campaigns, and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
Work collaboratively with multiple Google product teams at Essence to inform the development of strategy for our client
Our clients are typically strategic, smart, results driven and commercial – you’ll need to be the same


A bit about yourself:

Extensive and wide ranging experience in the marketing and media industries, with a mix of online and offline channels, media and creative
A proven track record in defining and leading marketing and media strategies for large campaigns across the JAPAC region
In depth knowledge of the key markets across JAPAC region
Exceptional presentation skills, with experience of presenting strategy and securing buy-in at the highest level. You can expect regular client contact at a senior level
Passionate about digital and well versed on the latest industry trends and news
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and deliver results
Excellent interpersonal skills
