As part of the journey, the role of Senior Director Global Process Lead for Design-to-Value (DtV) Management establishes the mechanism to drive towards a consistent and Best-in-Class DtV Strategy, Governance, Process, Standard, Tool/System and Measurement in support of the segments.

The leader in this position will ensure that a clear definition and common understanding of DtV across J&J is developed and institutionalized. That standardized and harmonized processes are built and interact in an integrated way across the functions, ensuring that we design products with the most optimal value for our customers while driving improved performance for J&J.
The position will be essential to deliver the JJSC strategy by: Developing and driving the implementation of Best-in-Class DtV Governance, Tools, Processes, Standards and Measurements. Developing and deploying tools and processes to identify DtV opportunities in the segments. Verifying that the DtV Strategies are deployed and implemented by the segments. Develop a DTV strategy and roadmap for JJSC that is transformational and integrates the needs of JJSC, R&D and the commercial partners. Continuously monitor and refresh this strategy to remain consistent with internal stakeholder needs and external influences and benchmarks.
Key Relationships to include JJSC Leadership Team, Segment Value Chain Leadership, External and Internal Customers, R&D and Regulatory Partners, Commercial Partners, Customer Insight Partners and the IT organization.
Strategy responsibilities include: Design and develop a DtV Strategy and Roadmap for JJSC and the segments, which are transformational and integrate the needs of Customers, Patients, Quality, R&D, Commercial Partners etc. Continuously monitor and refresh the DtV strategy to remain consistent with internal and external stakeholder needs, external influences and benchmarks. Develop a robust and deep understanding of DtV Value drivers and quantify their worth, in collaboration with the Segments. Develop and deploy a DtV management tool to allow for the organization to examine in a systematic way all the DtV activities performed and how they interact and necessary for analyzing the sources of competitive advantage. Strategically identify and develop a DtV Road Map to become an integrated partner with R&D and Commercial Leaders to influence, inform and partner effectively for best outcome in process and product robustness driving highest possible value for customers while improving J&J’s performance. Strategically drive the leverage of investments in DtV common tools, processes and capabilities. Contribute at and provide input to the JJSC DtV Strategy.
Core Processes Responsibilities Include
DtV: Lead the Design-to-Value (DtV) Process and Framework development, as an integrated approach to Product Development considering multiple dimensions: Customer, Quality, Cost, Technology, Value Add,. Partner with R&D and Commercial to ensure effective joint deployment Will include Design and deploy DtV processes to combine customer insights, engineering innovation, quality principles and manufacturing best practices to create innovative products with distinctive value for customers while improving performance for J&J. Establish an effective program at JJSC level in support of the segments for project management process and structure, including governance, project plans, resources and measures to ensure successful delivery of the JJSC DtV strategy. Design and deploy an effective communication and change management approach to ensure DtV outputs are successfully deployed, sustained throughout the JJSC segments and R&D Organizations and become institutionalized as the new way of working. Drive leverage across the segments wherever possible and ensure the JJSC strategy and Roadmap is fully aligned to the broader objective of driving value for our Customers and J&J. Lead Cross Segment DtV management Council. Ensure that the DtV processes are properly documented, provide work instructions which have to be used by the operational/segment teams, indicating in particular the intersection points between the functions with clear R&R; important in the cross functional supply chain environment.
Organization/People responsibilities include: Operate a small team within the JJSC-S&D Value Chain team to enable core DtV processes while providing global, integrated solutions to the Segments to deliver High Quality Products to our Customers. Enable the development and deployment of Standardized/Harmonized Organizational DtV Designs across the Segments. Drive Improved DtV Capabilities by deploying Learning and Development Programs. Establish a DtV Community across J&J that ensures Communication, Education, Training, Succession Planning for an Integrated Talent Community. Leverage the DtV standardized and harmonized organizational designs and processes, to train people on proven ways of working. Develop and champion a DtV organizational culture that promotes behaviors that lead to superior innovation, business performance, and customer service in all areas. Build strong communication and change management capabilities to ensure DtV improvements are institutionalized and sustained as the core business model going forward. Build DtV information and knowledge capabilities to provide seamless access to product and process information from the lab to the manufacturing operations. Build post launch “stage gate process” to leverage knowledge and build a platform for continuous DtV improvement.
Collaboration responsibilities include: Collaborate and Integrate with key Supply Chain Leaders, Commercial, R&D, and External Partners to develop and deploy DtV Strategic Frameworks to the Segments to deliver on aligned JJSC goals. Collaborate with the S&D functions to deliver on the JJSC Best-in-Class vision and related challenges, but also to synchronize efforts driven from the S&D JJSC team. Collaborate closely with the IT organization to ensure DtV processes are enabled by systems, tools and technology solutions. Also, ensure that DtV standardized and harmonized processes will enable the use of common tools and information systems. Develop processes which enable collaboration across the functional teams, including Commercial, R&D, Regulatory, Procurement, and Quality…In collaboration with R&D, Launch management teams,…update the stage gate development process by integrating Quality by Design principles to support robust product and process understanding, ensure first pass regulatory approval and support right first time supply
Measurement responsibilities include: Develop and deploy a Standard Set of DtV Metrics and Dashboard
Select, develop and establish implementation timing of Standard DtV Business Processes as well as the Maturity Development and Benchmarking for those Processes in collaboration with each Segment.

Qualifications
To qualify for this role one must have an Undergraduate University degree in engineering or scientific field. An advanced scientific degree (MS) or MBA is preferred.
Experience will ideally include: Approximately 10 years of senior level experience in manufacturing and engineering and broad technical and scientific expertise, having demonstrable experience in leading complex worldwide programs and improvement initiatives, projects and groups of professionals is required. Multifunctional background preferred. Technically savvy, can relate to and understand complex technology based issues. Deep understanding of product and process development process and associated regulatory and quality requirements. Understands business needs and capable to relate those to scientific concepts. Approximately 10 years of executive leadership of teams, processes, include multi-layer management is preferred.
Key Capabilities, Knowledge, and Skills: Technically savvy, can relate to and understand complex technology based issues. Expertise in understanding Product Development and Design. Experiences working with R&D Partners for development and/or being a part of an R&D work environment where use of Supply Chain insights and expertise contributed to enhance strategies of product design. Understanding the linkages from product development through manufacturing and delivery to the customer. Creating strong relationships across multiple functions and businesses. Driving alignment on strategy and approach with senior leadership. Change management and project management experience. Strong executive presentation skills. Creating a future vision and gaining support and alignment to that vision. Developing working strategic plans in alignment with the corporate strategic goals. Attracting and developing superior talent and motivating them in often challenging circumstances. Connecting and building networks of leaders across broad geographic distances and business segments. Strong analytical and strategic skills with a Bifocal approach - ability to zoom-in/zoom-out for strategic and tactical, high-level and detailed, etc. Previous experience in driving broadly based culture change. High tolerance for ambiguity in a complex environment. Makes the complex clear and easily understood by others.
Ideally this role will be located in one of the following Hubs of business: Bridgewater, NJ; Zug or Singapore.
This role will require approximately 35% Global travel.
