Purchasing Director - Baxter International - Singapore
Job description
The Director Purchasing, Asia Pacific is responsible for the management of the Purchasing function for both the direct as well as indirect spend across the region. The total annual spend is approximately $400M, with a large focus on capital spending programs due to the significant investment programs that support the growth of the region.
- Management of purchasing teams; ensuring annual objectives are clearly set, monitoring progress to objectives and driving talent management for the organization.
- To develop, communicate and deploy global and regional sourcing agreements
- To drive standardized ways of working across the various purchasing teams.
- Secure continuity of supply of raw materials as well as critical services and goods
- Managing raw material budgets across plants and compounding centers. Ensure that aggressive budget targets are set. Accountable for an accurate follow up of the PPV by plant.
- Accountable for the Procure to Pay processes for raw materials and indirect services & goods.
- Management of the critical supplier relationships in alignment with global category managers.
- Responsible for the identification of annual improvement plans across the indirect and direct spend categories
o Work with suppliers to improve current performance and develop new opportunities
o Competitive tendering of all contracts
o Communicate and engage senior management on opportunities with suppliers. Secure necessary buy-in for the sourcing projects
- Coordinate and support projects with category managers
- Ensure appropriate communication with key stakeholders to update on key purchasing projects as well as ensuring compliance to purchasing’s rules of engagement

- Professional certification (CPM, CIPS, EIPM) and/or MBA are highly desirable
- A proven track record in sourcing, consulting, or a productivity improvement role, incorporating project management responsibility.
- Experience in a medical / regulated industry preferred.
