Job Description
OnBoarding is looking for an Asia Pacific Regional Head based in Singapore to lead its regional team within the Global OnBoarding function. OnBoarding includes four functions (Implementation, Client & Portfolio Data, Projects & Business Management and Contracting) and works closely with clients, service providers, and a broad cross-section of internal teams to ensure that the contractual, regulatory and operational impacts of new portfolios, as well as changes to existing portfolios, are evaluated and implemented in an efficient and risk controlled manner.
We are a key business partner who plays an active and visible role in delivering a superior client experience on behalf of the firm. Key responsibilities include leading the regional OnBoarding Implementation team which directs the on-boarding of new clients and critical client change events such as benchmark and other investment guideline updates, and generally supports all internal BlackRock teams (sales, portfolio management, investment operations, & corporate functions) across the globe throughout the on-boarding process. In addition to the above and based on the experience and background of the successful candidate, there would be scope to expand responsibilities to include the role of Deputy to the Head of Client Operations, Asia Pacific. Working closely with the regional Head, key responsibilities would include: assisting in the establishment and execution of the regional Client Operations strategy, oversight of key projects, development of the talent agenda with a focus on client service, build and maintain relationships with key regional business leads and senior stakeholders.
The position reports directly to the Global Head of Onboarding, and regionally to the Head of Client Operations, Asia Pacific.
Primary Objectives Include:
Leading the Onboarding Implementation team, coordinate and manage launch and change events with all impacted stakeholders
Help our sales teams manage client expectations by clearly spelling out what’s required to launch a new portfolio or effect a desired change
Provide critical control functions such as requesting / receiving sign-offs from key stakeholders in advance of launches / changes becoming effective and incorporating service level agreements into credible end-to-end timelines
Build strong relationships across the organization by listening carefully to our internal stakeholders and working hard to deliver for the firm
Identify and drive process improvement opportunities that lower the risk of errors and increase efficiency
Provide regional leadership, oversight and management for the OnBoarding function, assisting in establishing and driving the regional Onboarding strategy
Assist in establishing and driving the regional Client Operations strategy, including the development of the regional talent agenda and management of key regional stakeholders
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience and Skills Required:
Deep experience in the investment management business and launching investment management products
Experience in providing client service to institutional clients is highly desirable, a service philosophy is core to the position
Expert knowledge of different participants in the fund management business and their roles – fund managers, administrators, brokers, consultants and custodians
Established track record of building and maintaining relationships with business leads and senior stakeholders
15+ years industry experience
Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver on process design and / or improvements
Demonstrated ability in building and leading large organizations and managing operational teams / functions
Background in other Client Operations functions (e.g. Client Reporting, Billing, Contracting ,etc.) a plus
Demonstrated ability in developing talent with a focus on coaching and ongoing educational opportunities
Capable of balancing a commercial and operational mindset
Superior communication skills, ability to frame out complex problems in a simple manner
