Job Description
The Director of Engineering will manage, support and provide direction and leadership to Team Leaders as well as individual contributors. The person in this role must be a coach, technical mentor, and sometimes architect. As a multi-national company it is imperative that the person in this role get synchronized with their US counterparts and stay synchronized. This means that excellent communication skills are a must, phone/video calls will occur outside of typical office hours, and regular travel to the US (offices in NYC, Boston, and California) will be required.
The person filling this role will have the opportunity to be a critical part of the creation of a cutting edge video advertising programmatic platform. Tremor’s global approach is such that our developers in Singapore are equal partners in the creation of our system and not treated as outsourced labor. In fact, the majority of the design and development for this system comes from Singapore, in close coordination with US counterparts. This is part of why this role is so very critical.
Skills
While the position will not require writing software, the candidate will also be expected to demonstrate excellent hands-on skills in the majority of the following technologies:
Java (JSP, Spring MVC, Services)
JavaScript (React.js, Single Page Applications, Marionette, Backbone)
Linux, MySQL, Apache, and Tomcat
Hadoop, Hive, and Cassandra
Real Time data processing - Kafka, Spark, Impala
Distributed Architecture
Candidate must possess a history of strong leadership, deep practical engineering knowledge and a proven track record for timely project delivery, project management, cost control and customer satisfaction. This successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and will interface closely with local management (Managing Director and QA) as well as US leads from Product, PMO, Systems, QA, and other Engineering leads. The desired individual is someone who will bring knowledge and creativity to the position as well as have the discipline to drive results and follow established fundamental processes. The right person will have the passion for innovating tools and processes to optimize SDLC. He/She will help build a culture of Engineering excellence and promote innovation and high quality engineering solutions.
Candidate will be measured on all levels of responsibility and will establish long and short-range goals and objectives for technical maturity, hiring talent, team performance, quality, personnel development, and individual employee achievements.
Qualifications
MS/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent experience
15+ years of engineering experience including 10+ years of management experience.
Experience of working in Ad-Tech industry will be a big plus, though not necessary.
