Job Description
The Director Academy Program in Education Services provides leadership and management oversight toward the design and execution of strategies and tactics for programs aimed to increase demand and proliferation of VMware technology across the academic and technical community\. The director will continue to serve the existing academies enrolled in the program, build strategies and execute to greatly expand VMware's Academy footprint especially in emerging regions\. In addition, the Director will provide support and collaborate with other VMware organizations responsible for driving proliferation of VMware Technology such as Office of CTO, VMware User Group etc\. A successful Director of Academic program will continue to explore and create other paths to drive proliferation in close alignment with course offerings, technical certification and VMware company objectives\. Key responsibilities: • Set direction and strategy for VMware's Academic program\. Oversee all aspects of marketing, demand generation, enrollment, support and continuous management of the programs\. • Execute and manage execution of VMware Academy strategies\. • Define, implement and manage official policies for academic institutions globally
• Identify and lead initiatives to provide exposure of VMware technology at scale to students, prospective students and faculty members\. • Represent VMware Education Services and Academic program in various events conducted by professional organizations, government panels, academic institutions, industry groups, company sponsored events etc\. • Collaborate with other VMware organizations with similar mandate such as VMware User Groups and other groups within VMware Federation • Work with education services geo teams to grow the academic footprint\. • Negotiate vendor and partner contracts and relationships – terms and conditions, pricing, SLAs, operational arrangements etc\. with services partners and vendors • Oversees VMware people management duties including performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, hiring practices, and employee on boarding • Work with Education Information Systems \(EIS\), IT and other VMware organizations to develop management and operations data dashboards and reports • Manage operational aspects of the program – manage user feedback, satisfaction, requests and issue resolution\. Manage design of infrastructure and tools to deliver work class user experience • Create financial models for budgeting and forecasting of revenue across all programs Requirements • Bachelor's Degree \(B\.A\./B\.S\.\) preferably in business or a related IT discipline; MBA or MS preferred\. • 15\+ years' management with relevant technical education industry experience\. • 10\+ years' experience managing all aspects of Academy or related program • Experience with building new offerings and programs from concepts to scale Key competencies • Strong leadership competencies, people management and team building skills • Demonstrated ability to drive results, able to monitor activities, analyze data, identify problems and develop solutions • A solid understanding of IT education in academic marketplace\. • Strong presentation skills • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written • Objective data driven approach to measure success and drive growth • Superior professional presence, business acumen and strong sense of responsibility and self\-motivation • Solid understanding of VMware software products and applicable courseware offerings • Understanding of business and financial aspects of contracts related to education/certification business
