Job description
Position Summary
As a global payment system, Visa maintains a global anti-money laundering / anti-terrorist financing (AML/ATF) and sanctions program established under formalized policies and procedures. In this role, the Director will report to Visa's Senior Director, Global AML/ATF and Sanctions Compliance. The Director will provide leadership in ensuring execution of Visa’s AML/ATF and Sanctions activities across the Asia Pacific, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa. The role will involve supervising a small team, working closely with AML/ATF and Sanctions Team colleagues in Dubai, Foster City and Miami, and working in partnership with key Visa business units and entities. Some travel and extended business hours (conference calls) may be required.

Responsibilities
Manage execution of Visa’s AML/ATF and sanctions program for AP and CEMEA clients and countries, consistent with Visa’s Global AML/ATF and sanctions policy and procedures.
Manage and supervise AML staff executing the program in these regions.
Oversee AML/ATF periodic reviews of clients and of all new applicants as stipulated in the Global AML/ATF Policy, including screening of clients and other parties.
Coordinate closely with business development and product teams to ensure necessary information is requested and received as scheduled, to deal with follow-up queries, and to administer fines if information is not received in a timely manner

Ensure appropriate application of client, country and product risk ratings and ensure that accurate records are maintained.
Monitor clients and provide timely assessments of any change in a client’s AML/ATF risk profile.
Manage onsite client reviews conducted by Visa and/or by third parties as part of enhanced due diligence
Ensure conduct of AML/ATF assessments of new products and services to identify and mitigate any AML concerns
Provide subject matter expertise and outreach to Country/Business Development and Product offices to educate staff on AML/ATF and sanctions risks, issues and processes
Participate in the management and ongoing development of the Global AML/ATF and sanctions policy, procedures and practices as necessary to address changes in regulatory and business environment
Participate in the development and enhancement of global systems in support of program implementation
Participate in AML/ATF and Sanctions Team meetings
Promptly and accurately prepare and deliver scheduled AML/ATF reporting on program status and emerging issues. Prepare other ad hoc reports and presentations as required
Communicate urgent AML/ATF or sanctions concerns to Global AML Leads on a timely basis and escalate issues as appropriate
Proactively identify and evaluate emerging regulatory trends and laws in Visa’s local markets that may impact client/product assessments or may require program enhancement
Coordinate with Legal to ensure adherence to emerging laws and regulations and to respond to any formal inquiries from local regulators. Maintain a repository of local AML legislative instruments for all AP&CEMEA countries
Facilitate internal audit and regulatory requests and ensure satisfactory resolution of any audit findings and recommendations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or other higher education qualifications.

Professional AML/ATF accreditation is a plus

8 to 10 years’ experience in management of AML/ATF and sanctions controls.

Good understanding of AML/ATF and sanctions policy and appropriate legislation

Good knowledge of Visa systems and products

The ideal candidate will be highly analytical and self-motivated, adept at working independently or in a team on multiple and varied tasks, often under pressure, and capable of working collaboratively with employees from all levels of the organisation.

Corporate experience with a proven track record of managing multiple projects in a complex environment

Fully effective working both independently and within a team

Intuitive and not afraid to challenge.

Ability to multi-task and able to work with minimal supervision.
