Director - Automation - Flextronics - Singapore

Job description
General Purpose:
Responsible to lead a team of automation engineers, specifying, designing, installing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications

Principle Accountabilities:
Able to manage/develop/coach automation engineering team to meet automation goals.
Able to design from low to complex automation solutions for Final Assembly, Testing and Packaging including equipment, processes and tools.
Participate in design reviews. Understand mechanical drawings, electrical and pneumatic diagrams identifying potential risk and errors.
Manage projects within budget and time constraints.
Willing to travel and collaborate with sites on automation requirement
Able to forecast diligently on execution plan with competing interest to achieve implementation.
Lead startup efforts, commission automation system and training for engineers plus technician
Implement cost effective automation, with transparent quotation process
Provide status reports as per established schedule with ability to drive for implementation
Ability to identify and manage areas of risk in design documentation/specifications.
Prepare and maintain documentation related to the operation of the automation equipment.
Require strong work ethics, negotiation skills and an innovation mindset.


Desired Skills and Experience
Electrical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer / Automation Engineer with at least 10 years of experience building automation equipment.
Strong experience in Robotics, PLC, HMI, Servo motors, Drives, Controls systems.
5+ years experience designing automation system including selection of automation components with a wide experience in troubleshooting.
5+ years managing projects including customers, suppliers and integrators.
5+ years experience in business scope, customers interface and future automation technology
General business acumen with a good understanding of Financial terms like Return of Investment, Payback, Revenue, Amortization, etc.
Excellent Communication Skills.
3D SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD experience;
Proficient in MS Word, Office, Excel & Project
