Job Description:
The APAC Director of Government Affairs will develop and execute the company's government affairs and public policy strategy in APAC. This position will advance Autodesk's policy goals and values before the region's government officials, establish relationships with such officials, participate in major associations and organizations related to policy and advocacy, provide leadership on policy issues affecting the business, and contribute to and support the company strategy with regard to its government business.
Among the relevant policy issues are matters involving advanced manufacturing, building and infrastructure design and development, Building Information Modeling (BIM) policies, cloud computing, intellectual property rights, software licensing policy, trade, market access, government procurement, and economic development.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute Government Affairs strategies and programs in the APAC region.
Work with Government Affairs, Legal and business management teams to understand Autodesk business goals and strategies, and identify key public policy developments that affect the company. Consult and coordinate with company stakeholders to establish consensus on policy priorities, and formulate strategies and action plans to align APAC Government Affairs work plans accordingly.
Advocate for public policies in APAC markets that enable Autodesk to compete and grow in the region, including policies allowing market access, cloud computing services, protection of intellectual property rights, and other policies that support business development.
Develop and execute strategies to increase recognition of and demand for Autodesk software and services by APAC governments, including the expansion of public policies driving the development of the advanced manufacturing sector and the adoption of BIM.
Support Autodesk license compliance programs and advise LC group about effective and appropriate Government Affairs strategies.
Identify the potential need for government affairs consultants in the region and/or specific markets, and manage any such consultants who are retained.
Develop strategies to engage with regional and specific country industry associations, coalitions, and other third-party organizations that can help advance the company's Government Affairs goals.
Foster strong relationships with like-minded companies-both within and beyond the technology community-to strengthen support for Autodesk's objectives.
Establish relationships with key government officials in target markets, and manage company communications and interactions with such officials, including executive engagements.
Engage in internal cross-functional communications to coordinate execution of any cross- functional initiatives.
Write policy and issue briefings for internal and external communications.
Provide government affairs support in relation to sales opportunities.
Represent the company at public and social events.
Participate in consultations with outside professionals and legal counsel.
Support compliance with all applicable laws and Autodesk policies, including laws and policies relating to anti-corruption, political law, and other provisions.
Required Qualifications And Skills
1O+ years of working experience in APAC government positions, US government positions focused on APAC, and/or government affairs or a related function in the region for a private-sector company or association in the software or technology industry.
• Fluency in English Desired Qualifications and Skills
A degree in a discipline related to public policy, law or public administration.
Demonstrated abilityto manage public policyissues, navigate government structures, and advocate effectively before government officials in APAC.
Strong business acumen.
Capable of working in a highly matrixed environment, with a broad range of professionals.
Strong networking and interpersonal skills.
Excellent listening, writing and speaking skills.
