Position Summary
The Senior Director, Consulting for North Asia will engage with senior leaders at Visa’s client organizations in dialogue and consulting projects that enable our clients to drive the growth and improved profitability of their payments business. The Senior Director will lead other team members in designing and delivering consulting engagements for clients in North Asia geographies, collaborating with other teams including Business Development, Product and Marketing. This role is critical in the focus on developing enduring, strategic relationships with clients, and will be a part of the leadership team in Visa Consulting.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop annual plans for consulting needs for North Asia clients.
• Proactively engage with clients ensuring annual/quarterly strategic discussions take place and program of work in place to drive business growth.
• Design consulting solutions to client requirements, striving for innovative and efficient approaches.
• Tap into Visa knowledge, best practices, benchmark data, research both primary and secondary, and analysis of client and industry situation.
• Develop frameworks and approaches that enable clients to address opportunities and tackle challenges.
• Undertake client projects, including project road mapping, client interviewing, analytical review of inputs, structuring of recommendations, report writing.
• Assign engagements and provide direction to other team members.
• Bring deep subject matter expertise to bear in undertaking engagements such as portfolio strategy, portfolio diagnostics, cardholder life cycle health checks.
• Facilitate meetings and workshops as an element of client engagements
• Foster partnership with other functional areas, ensuring alignment of opportunities and recommendations Provide subject matter expertise support and knowledge transfer to the wider Consulting team.
• Manage allocation of work across team and manage the project pipeline to maximize efficiency, throughput and quality.
• Model Consulting competencies and guide team members along the accreditation path through structured development program and skill transfer though projects.
• Select and manage any local consulting partners involved in the delivery of consulting engagements.
This role reports to the Head of Consulting and Analytics and the incumbent will conduct assignments in North Asia. This role has two direct reports.
Qualifications
• Strong academic credentials, with MBA or graduate degree preferred
• Expert level Excel and PowerPoint
Experience:
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in retail banking with the majority of that time in cards. Must have experience in cardholder marketing and portfolio management, with a solid grounding in Analytics, within in an issuing bank in a senior level capacity
• Global or multi-national business experience strongly preferred (e.g. with a major bank from a mature cards market such as USA, UK, Australia, HK or Taiwan)
• Experience in several key issuer business areas, such as portfolio management, marketing, product management, operations, risk management, for both credit and debit cards
• Understanding of card issuers’ P&L and critical factors in driving profitability
• Experience in and passion for the power of analytics to inform and drive strategy and tactics
• Some consulting experience preferred with project management and/or process re-engineering credentials helpful
Skills
