Director - Authorization Improvement - Visa - Singapore


Position Summary

This is an individual contributor role responsible for synergizing the efforts of various teams by developing and leading an aligned Authorization Improvement strategy for Asia Pacific (AP) Financial Institutions, Processors and major Merchants

Responsibilities

Define and lead cross-functional strategies to optimize the Authorizations Service Levels in AP through in-depth analysis of transactional data, client and processor parameter settings and the environment-based management of risk versus sales defined by Issuers, as well as sponsor the use of Visa internal tools and validation of processing parameters that could increase the level of authorization performance.

Serve as an internal and external senior Authorizations expert
Lead conversations with other Visa regional counterparts in client-facing strategic meetings to discuss and develop overall objectives and impacts of clients’ global business and Authorizations practices
Responsible for authorization improvement efforts by aiding Account Managers to conduct analysis of key client parameters, credit practices and technical setups to recommend corresponding adjustments that ensure continuous availability, proper Authorizations Service Levels.
Accountable for improving regional authorization levels, advocate on behalf of all AP clients to internal stakeholder organizations including CSI, Sales, Product, Systems, Processing and Risk, to review regional decline levels, identify decline drivers, and develop an integrated approach to reducing declines, aligned with pertinent global efforts, in order to achieve the highest possible level of successful authorizations that lead to client satisfaction and overall profitability.
Interface heavily with Account Management and Project Implementation teams to drive actions that reduce unnecessary declines.
Stay abreast of new rules, products and services, and industry and technology trends to be able to support Visa strategic goals and Client initiatives
Maintain and build rapport with Regional peers and other Client Support teams across Visa Inc. to exchange, learn and leverage best practices

Implementation and Execution

Performance Measurement
Deploys Authorization improvement strategies which align to the Global efforts to raise authorization rates and applies working knowledge of Visa and Visa products, systems and procedures, along with market conditions, regulations and dynamics to ensure effective strategies that align to global goals while adapting to market/client circumstances and needs in order to bring about an overall strengthening of authorization management knowledge among Visa financial institutions, key merchants and processors to produce the highest levels of sound authorization rates.
Deploys unique Client/Market/Country support strategies that lead to successful Authorizations and increased client satisfaction.

Accountability and Scope
Manage key component within the CSI organization, leading authorization-related activities of other CSI areas and partnering with cross functional business leaders and professional staff for all product business lines and acceptance environments to support Clients and Processors
Leverage and influence resources within each Client Support Services function
Accountable for improving authorization rates in AP
Key contributor to ensure that the Global/Regional Client Support strategy is delivered to AP Clients
Represent AP in Global discussions and strategy meetings aimed at improving Authorization rates worldwide
Stay abreast of any initiatives throughout AP or globally that may have an impact on Authorizations, to:
Along with CSS Market Leads, analyze efforts already taken at the individual country/client level and measure results
Partner with other Visa functional areas to share information affecting Authorization rates and develop integrated approaches to addressing opportunities
Analyze results data against defined key performance indicators
Monitor results and prepare statistical reports
Determine impact of initiatives and recommend any adjustments that may better support the Global Authorizations directive
Deliver strategies that help align individual team goals with the global effort to improve Authorization rates

Financial and Organizational Scope
Shared accountability for regional/country specific operational initiatives and related brand impacts
Reporting Relationships and Interactions
Reports directly to the Vice President for Client Support and Implementations - AP
Interacts closely with other AP CSI team leads and non-NA counterparts
Interfaces with other functions such as Products, Sales, Acceptance, Risk, Processing and Finance

Qualifications

Professional
Regional market knowledge and functional experience in bankcard operations, preferably Visa, supporting highly complex clients and or services
10+ years of progressive leadership experience and in client-facing roles in the payments industry

Technical
Very strong knowledge of Visa systems including authorization and clearing systems, client connectivity, Visa Settlement Service
Working knowledge of Client business drivers for their operations and processing businesses
Demonstrated, detailed knowledge of the full breadth of systems, products and services offered by Visa

Ability to lead and drive cross-functional ad-hoc team to achieve and exceed established goals and objectives
Customer service
Excellent project management skills
