Director - Business Development - Global Network Partnerships - JAPA - American Express - Singapore
Job description
This position is responsible for driving new business opportunities and identifying & signing new strategic alliances to grow the network’ presence for American Express Bank partner business (focus on markets such as Taiwan, Singapore & Hong Kong).
This role will also have the responsibility of managing existing bank partnership within Singapore and driving opportunities to increase partner share with this existing partnership
We are looking for candidates with strong thought leadership and passion to succeed as a critical attribute for success in this role
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for developing sales pipeline activity to facilitate the future expansion of American Express within Asia
· Identify additional transformational business opportunities that will drive significant market growth, deepen the relationship with the partner and increase overall profitability
· Market level strategic review and providing strategic thought leadership to support new Business Partnerships process including: market assessments, deal origination, deal negotiation, contract negotiation, closing the deal, partner assessments and hand over to the implementation team
· For existing partnerships, Identify additional transformational business opportunities that will drive significant market growth, deepen the relationship with the partner and increase overall profitability
· Work closely with all constituent parts of the business (Business Development, Marketing, Operations, Finance & Technologies, etc) to support major strategic alliances
· Implement business strategies relating to emerging payments and mobile technology
· Drive innovation. Development and delivery of the online / digital assets to grow the businessOffer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
Desired Skills and Experience
Skills/Experience:
· 10-12 yrs of overall work experience with a strong track record in deal making including sales and negotiation skills
· Strong payments experience preferred
· Proven in new business development with respect to payments and dealing with Financial Institutions across Asia
· Analytical skills and financial acumen to drive profitability
· Self motivated and ability to drive results
· Highly analytical, with a growth mindset and being able to articulate grand visions and turn them into executionable strategies
· Build partner relationships at all levels (internal/external) for existing and prospective partners
· Able to leverage existing relationships and build new relationships to ensure partners fully understand and buy into the Global Network Partnership business model and strategy
· Work closely with cross functional groups - Technologies, Operations & Finance to ensure consistent delivery of services to Global Network Partners to support business needs and continuous process improvements to maximize growth
· Operate in compliance with all applicable laws and procedures for all markets
· Autonomous and self led work style
· Demonstrated success in bringing ideas to reality through influencing internal/external stakeholders and lobbying for financial investment
· Strong issuing experience preferred with Asia payments experience
· Influencing and negotiating skills particularly with external partners where there is no direct authority and where partners are market leaders in their respective markets
