Job Description:
The Director of Agile Program Management is a critical position on the team responsible for ensuring the program's delivery of support initiatives and projects for VISA digital and Mobile products. Key to this success is ensuring that the processes are aligned for effective end-to-end delivery of this program that will comprise multiple scrum teams.
In conjunction with a 'Program Portfolio Manager' the Program Director is responsible for the co-ordination, scheduling, managing and governing, Product Delivery across one or more programs or product lines.
Program Management Responsibilities
- Provide program leadership, strategic planning, and project management support to the program of multiple, interrelated, highly-complex projects in a very fast paced, dynamic environment with a matrixed, cross-organizational delivery team.
- Create plans that incorporate the overall program from initiation through to release.
- Define, implement, or improve upon program level forums, processes, and practices for planning, executing, tracking, and status to ensure program goals are achieved.
- Provide program and project teams with expertise, direction, motivation, and encouragement.
- Collaborate with Technology partners to support long-, mid-, and short-term product and technology planning required to guide the support the project roadmap, support and development initiatives as well as the release schedule
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with counterparts in other business and technology organizations to ensure our program deliverables align with broader VISA programs.
- Contribute thought leadership and facilitate the definition of new and improvement of existing processes and the Agile Development framework.
- Work with business and technology subject matter experts to define program scope, develop plans, create cost estimates, and produce documentation needed for scope, schedule, and funding approvals.
- Provide leadership, facilitate and direct program activities, conduct reviews, manage risk mitigation and change control processes, and communicate status to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders within the IT and business organizations.
- Ensure accurate and timely information is collected from the program’s Scrum teams and reported upon regularly to provide transparency and visibility into the program’s progress and financial status. This includes reporting to a broad audience including executives and team members across the business, technology, and cross-functional support groups.
- Ensure the delivery of high quality, complete releases into appropriate environments.
- Manage the release process of product releases and patches into client environments.
- Communicate project release details to both the business and technical teams from beginning to end of all projects
- Maintain clear and auditable records of patch levels within each of the internal and external client environments.
- Develop and deliver a wide variety of stakeholder presentations representing the business and technical teams.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities, flexibility and adaptability to changes in role and responsibilities as required.
- Lead by example, embrace teamwork, and promote a culture of openness and flexibility.
- Ensure all program activities and deliverables are fully in compliance with Visa Project Management Methodologies and Key Control policies, where required.
People Management Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Project Managers and SCRUM Masters in the capacity of a people manager
- Responsible for hiring the right talent, building the team, setting goals and nurturing the talent hired to meet their individual career goals and organizational goals
- Develop, influence and coach scrum masters and project managers to build and develop high-performance teams
- Review the work output and provide ongoing and constructive feedback
- Engage with direct reports to understand pulse of and drive discussions with high emotional intelligence
- Manage all aspects of people management in compliance with the company-wide policies
- Engage in all aspects of performance management, job leveling, career pathing, mentoring programs, workforce engagement and succession planning for the team
Qualifications
-Minimum 8 years' proven project and program management experience leading and managing technically complex, cross-organizational, multi-stakeholder projects with a successful track record of delivery.
-2+ years of experience with online/ecommerce, payment processing, and/or financial systems, preferably in the development and delivery of consumer-facing, B2C online products
-Experience in Full Agile Software Development Lifecycle, having managed multiple projects and parallel major/minor/patch releases.
-Demonstrated experience in product/scope planning and development of product roadmaps in collaboration with business partners
-Working knowledge of ITIL principles, procedures, and techniques is beneficial
-Project Management/Coordination experience managing the releases for large enterprise level projects required
-Experience with system requirements, design, build, dependency management and deployment methodologies
-Working knowledge of Rally, Atlassian JIRA, SharePoint, Confluence, SVN, Jenkins, Bamboo
-BA/BS or equivalent work experience is required. Concentration in Computer Science or a related technical discipline and/or an MS/MBA is a plus.
-Scrum Master Certification (CSM) or Project Management Professional (PMP®) is preferred
