Job Description:
This exciting role sits within the Global Merchant Services Marketing team and leads the Marketing strategy and execution for the Singapore and Thailand Business. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President, GMS Marketing JAPA and have a dotted line to the Vice President, Head of Merchant Services Singapore and Thailand. The key responsibility of this role is to identify and execute high impact marketing initiatives to grow the GMS business and improve acquisition, activation and satisfaction with our Merchant partners. This position is a people leadership role and leads a team of 4 who focus on Managed Merchants, Small Merchants and Marketing & Digital strategy.
The successful candidate will:
• Develop and manage the Merchant marketing strategy for Singapore and Thailand. Partner cross-functionally with Issuers and other key stakeholders to champion initiatives that create competitive advantage for GMS and the Blue Box, and deliver Merchant value and satisfaction, increase Active Locations in Force (ALIF), and digital transformation.
• Develop and execute objective-led marketing strategies with Managed Merchant accounts to drive Merchant satisfaction measured via annual Net Promoter Score survey (NPS).
• Support Client Management in Managed Merchant renegotiations.
• Assist the GMS Merchant acquisition team in signing top hold outs to drive ALIF. • Leadership and delivery of all Small Merchant communications to reinforce the Small Merchant Value Proposition and deliver merchant satisfaction, measured by annual Net Promoter Score survey (NPS).
• Use data and customer/competitive research to provide strategic thought leadership on key industry verticals and platforms
• Leverage and extend our transformational digital capabilities and distribution channels to drive our Merchant and Card Member marketing strategies
• Develop external relationships with key partners to identify and optimize business opportunities
• Manage launch of key global initiatives (digital and other capabilities, and marketing assets)
• Act as a regional Thought Leader on key programmes and activities
• Deliver the aggressive 2014/15 plan whilst creating a long range plan for continued growth
• Own the annual marketing planning and budgeting process, and support scorecard reporting
• Manage a team of marketing professionals to execute strategy for solus, platform and network campaigns
• Ensure all marketing programmes and POP are compliant with Global guidelines

Qualifications
• Demonstrated deep experience of B2B and B2C Marketing, Big Data, Digital Marketing and Social Media
• Proven ability to think strategically, with success in developing and implementing innovative and transformational strategies to drive significant and sustained business outcomes
• Exceptional skill in driving results across a complex portfolio, while ensuring seamless and flawless execution. Maintain a rigorous understanding of the performance of channels, campaigns, new capabilities, product constructs and customer segments.
• Superior commercial and analytical skills, financial acumen, and innovative problem solving expertise, to drive profitability and competitive advantage for Amex products, services and capabilities
• A creative thinker that can combine best practices with new ideas to create compelling marketing programmes
• Seasoned, respected people leader with known followership; able to attract and retain great talent and to lead, motivate and coach a team to ever greater levels of achievement
• Demonstrated skill in building and leveraging relationships; a team player able to successfully influence across all levels of the organization and across multiple business groups within American Express.
• Superior leadership presence and polish
• Flexibility, and ability to deal with ambiguity and rapid change
• Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate the team's vision, strategy and results across a variety of constituencies
• Experience in Singapore / Thailand preferred
• Degree Level Minimum, MBA preferred
