The Director of Retail Marketing & Development APAC oversees the strategic direction and business development of Universal’s retail and trade marketing activities across the region with an emphasis on Australia/New Zealand, Southeast Asia and South Asia. The Director will leverage their senior level relationships with our Key Accounts to deliver significant in-store listings for consumer products that build long-term franchise support.
The position oversees the development of cohesive programs incorporating all Universal/NBC business units (consumer products, home entertainment and promotions) that trade at retail. The Director will report to the EVP Retail (world wide) and VP of Consumer Products APAC.
Qualifications/Requirements KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy
• Develops the strategic vision for our presence at retail across the region in line with global and regional strategies and guidelines. Sets growth targets and action plans by key account.
• Determines APAC priority accounts and sets growth targets & plans for each account in collaboration with the VP APAC
• Coordinates with regional counterparts (VP North America and VP LATAM & EMEA) on global retail opportunities

Trade Marketing Activation
• Oversees development and execution of retail programs to achieve/support organizational objectives including: market share, volume, revenue, placement and brand awareness
• Manages the Trade Marketing budget for the region determining the best allocation of resources

Business Development
• Work with VP APAC, category directors and licensees to maximize product placement at retail to ensure revenue targets are hit
• Responsible for organizing regular meetings and franchise presentations with retailers and collaborating with the brand group on pitch materials and idea generation
• Deliver “one voice” at retail for all key Universal business units and partners that maximize sales of licensed product, drive revenue and media impressions for properties
• Manage retail activity and partnership with local agents especially in secondary markets

Measurement
• Oversee and Analyze retail financials in market including market share by retailer, overall retail sales by property and annual growth plans for key retailers in each market.

People & Relationship Management
• Collaborate and effectively communicate with Universal Pictures executives and cross divisional teams (i.e. home entertainment, theme parks,) to ensure all businesses are represented at retail


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 10- 15 years of retail, marketing, promotions or packaged goods experience with significant experience creating large scale programs
• Strong relationships with senior level executives at the major Australian and/or Southeast Asian Key Accounts
• Deep knowledge of retail business including retail marketing tactics, promotional partners/packaged goods, home entertainment, and consumer products
• Strong pitching and negotiating skills with the demonstrated ability to close large deals
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all cross divisional stakeholders (ability to unite disparate groups behind a common cause)
• Excellent presentation skills with executive presence & leadership
• Native English ability required
• Ability to speak a regionally relevant second language a plus

• Ambassador of the business with sufficient stature internally and externally to represent the business positively
• Intellectually strong
• Able to travel extensively
