Portfolio Control Analyst - Capital Group - Singapore


Job description
The Portfolio Control department is a global team that is located in Singapore, London and Los Angeles. We are looking for a Portfolio Control Associate/Analyst to join the team in Singapore to provide support to the global Investment Group (Portfolio Managers and Research Analysts). The department provides a diverse range of support that includes trade implementation, client/research portfolio construction, portfolio compliance, asset compliance, corporate governance, proxy voting and operational support. The position will be a part of a team with a particular focus within Portfolio Control but we expect associates in the department to move to various teams. The role requires the associate to work closely with Portfolio Control locations as well as other departments such as Trading, Operations, Marketing and Legal.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for implementing portfolio managers convictions in client portfolios across various mandates.
Work with Trading on orders and market deals.
Coordinate and execute manager team changes within the portfolios.
Work with the Mandate Managers to effectively support the mandates and client portfolios.
Oversee client accounts to ensure they are properly constructed, reflect portfolio manager convictions and remain in compliance with client investment guidelines, internal investment policies and market regulations.
Work with Legal on transactions, complex instruments and guideline interpretation.
Coordinate with Operations, Marketing and other departments on a day to day basis to handle operational issues relating to client activity, cash management, settlements and local market subtleties.
On proxy voting, analyzes issues and incoming votes to ensure the appropriate amount of information is provided to the global Investment Group which include staying abreast of legislation in the various markets in Asia Pacific including Japan and analyzing how it may impact future proxy voting.


Hiring Criteria

Hiring criteria

Minimum of 2 years in the investment management business or financial instituition in a support/control function for an investment team
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar corporate governance role dealing with proxy voting yet open to moving between the teams within Portfolio Control
Highly numerate with a working knowledge of financial instruments and the investment business
Participation in the CFA program is a plus
Proficiency in VBA will be an advantage
Good team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with an eye for detail
Integrity, initiative and organized efficiency are vital attributes
