Job Description
Our director of business development will be responsible for seeking out new business opportunities for our Infrastructure organization in new countries as well as maintaining existing regions to support the infrastructure needs of AWS. The business development director will develop, coordinate and implement growth plans designed to maintain and increase existing business and capture new opportunities to provide capacity as well as drive costs to the floor.
The Director will be involved with strategic marketing and operations planning with infra-structures leadership team and setting objectives, plans and methods to reach our growth goals. As a business development Leader within Infrastructure, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to expand and build out our infrastructure from Data Centers to fiber to Transit. You will own where we go, how we get there, and manage the teams who negotiate the contracts needed to get us moving. The ideal candidate will posses both a business background that enables them to drive an engagement and interact at the CXO/VP level, as well as a technical background that enables them to easily interact with data center and Network engineers. He/she should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions. He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to negotiate multimillion dollar contracts from a business and technical perspective for infrastructure.

Roles & Responsibilities
Manage and set direction of the Infrastructure Business Development team as well as help to drive overall Infrastructure strategy.
Understand the infrastructure market segments, customer base, and industry verticals.
Set a strategic business development plan for target markets and ensure it's in line with Infrastructures strategic direction.
Execute the strategic business development plan while working with key internal stakeholders (e.g. product teams, Networking, Data Center Engineering, legal, tax, , etc.).
Maintain and improve upon metrics for the team
Familiar with Lease and Real Estate acquisition a plus.
Understand the technical requirements of our engineering teams and ensure teams negotiate a deal that solves their requirements as well as the business objectives.
Prepare and give business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks to closing new deals.
Manage complex contract negotiations and serve as a liaison to the legal group.
Develop long-term strategic partnerships in support of our key markets.
A degree in engineering/MBA or equivalent qualification is recommended
A proven track record in strong presentation and communication skills is essential
A proven track record of strong business-to-business sales at a corporate level.
Proven track record of managing success of a team
Proficiency in strong research and strategic analysis skills.
A proven track record at agreeing and closing deals with clients.
Excellent organizational skills are essential as well as performance monitoring will be a requirement.
Minimum of 15 years of infrastructure negotiation (Data Center / Fiber / Land / Transit) and partner/business development and/or program/product management experience in an infrastructure environment or equivelant.
Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.
Experience in bringing or setting up new business to a country
Experience with Negotiating contracts / deals - preferably with Land, Real Estate, Fiber, Transit Data Center / Collocation.
M&A experience a plus.
MBA, Computer Science or Math background or equivalent job experience is highly desired.
Experience in managing $100M+ budget's and portfolio's.
Highly technical and analytical.
Having strong contacts in the Data Center and Networking markets.
