Data Center Hardware Operations Manager - Google - Singapore


Job description
Google isn't just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology. You will manage a team that ensures the quality installation of server hardware and components. You will coordinate multiple sites and take charge of complicated installations/troubleshooting. Your team will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster). You'll also tackle the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. You'll participate in or lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.

Responsibilities
Oversee the day to day management of teams within data center operations.
Work with others to identify problems and create solutions for computing and network architecture.
Take responsibility for the management and implementation of multiple projects for your team.
Hire, coach and develop a team of technical staff to meet objectives.
Ensure data center related priorities are consistent with company objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
2 years experience managing technical teams, team leads or managers.
4 years experience with Linux/UNIX system administration and networking.
4 years experience working in data centers and building out infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong understanding of PC hardware architecture, maintenance, and repair.
Demonstrated strategic problem solving skills.
Strong understanding of HVAC, Power requirements for high-availability data centers.
Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin).
