Markit Indices is a leading independent provider of financial indices across all major asset classes. We manage and calculate Markit CDX and Markit iTraxx the world’s leading credit derivatives indices and the Markit iBoxx bond indices. Our indices are used by banks, asset managers and other financial institutions to create and manage financial products, investment risk as well as in research.
Our indices in Asia include the award-winning Markit iBoxx ABF Pan-Asia, Markit iBoxx Singapore Dollar and Markit iTraxx index families covering bond and credit markets in the region. We are market leader for bond indices used on exchange-traded funds.
Position summary
Markit is looking for an experienced index marketer with good industry experience to join the Asian Indices team in Singapore. Markit is building out its team of product specialists to grow its Asia-specific product offerings. The focus of the role is to drive the commercialisation and brand awareness of Markit Indices in the APAC region.
Duties & accountabilities
Primary responsibility of the individual will be to the Asian Business Head as well as the regional sales managers. The role encompasses:
- Define/expand the index business development strategy for APAC
- Get buy-in for the strategy from key stake holders within indices, marketing & sales and the Asian product management team
- Execute the index business development strategy in South East Asia
- Coordinate the execution of the index business development strategy across other APAC centres
- Identify key industry events and coordinate Markit Indices’ participation in the event
- Represent Markit Indices at conferences and industry events
- Build/expand relationships with key players in the fixed income/index space in South East Asia
- Attend client meetings and conference calls with salespeople to present the current thoughts and ideas of Markit Indices and to understand and manage client requirements
- Provide input into the indices product development roadmap for APAC
Desired Skills and Experience
Business competencies
Education and experience
At least 4-6 years experience with indices, either through index product management/marketing/business development or within the context of a portfolio management, research or structured products/fund marketing based role.
In-depth knowledge of and practical exposure to APAC financial markets.
University degree with a major in a relevant subject.
Commercial awareness
High degree of commercial awareness. Needs to be motivated by commercial impact.
A keen interest in the developments and trends within financial markets in indices and related areas such as fixed income, asset management and ETFs.
Management requirements
The individual is expected to be a strong team player, with a proven track-record of working with people, including people not functionally tied to him/her.
Ability to inspire and influence peers and colleagues across the indices and related Markit products.
