The Director, DC Operations is responsible for leading the teams that manage a number of enterprise level data centers in a specific geographic region in accordance with the infrastructure deployment model used by SoftLayer. Responsibilities will include managing a budget for the data centers, leading a series of teams in each of the data centers within the scope of responsibility, ensuring operational processes are followed and each facility is maintained in accordance with company standards and best practices. In addition this role will be responsible for capacity management and planning, staffing, asset management, as well as continuous improvements within the data centers around efficiency, process optimization, and asset utilization.
Key Areas Of Responsibility
Lead IaaS infrastructure and distributed data center operations teams
Project planning and management of distributed resources
Work closely with Hardware, Network, Development, and Product Management teams to support new features and releases, constant deployment cycles, quality improvements, infrastructure evolution
Provide ongoing support to client deployments and incident management
Ensure effective and efficient deployment SoftLayer’s infrastructure platform
Develop and maintain infrastructure roadmaps in conformance with overall product and business strategy
Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for Operations spending and initiatives
Operate and improve Disaster Recovery and contingency plans, policies, and procedures. Oversee testing of those procedures.
Required Experience
5-10 years of experience managing data centers and network infrastructure
Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science or information systems
Technical knowledge of Linux/Unix, Windows, Servers, VM’s, Firewalls, Switches, Routers, web hosting control panels (Ensim, cPanel/WHM, Plesk, and and Helm)
Ability to envision, develop, and direct implementation of global infrastructure and service aligned with IaaS business objectives
Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for Operations spending and initiatives
Creativity and intellectual curiosity to constantly improve the data center operations.
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Very strong analytics skills to drive measurements and improvements
Position is located at our Singapore office
