Job description
Leadership of the APAC Controllership Team
Control over the accuracy and content of the financial records (compliance with policies, GL integrity, etc)
Local statutory and regulatory financial reporting as applicable e.g. Statutory Accounts, Central Bank, Tax authorities
Direct support to the CFO's and PayPal Board of Directors in APAC
Liaison point for External and Internal Auditors
Lead operational and enterprise risk activities in the region
HQ financial reporting
Establishing two way communication with HQ and Regional Finance to ensure information flows maintained
Managing the relationship with the Asia Shared Service Centre (accounting, expense processing, fixed assets records, payroll, etc)
Implementation of accounting policies
Ensuring the development and implementation of internal controls to safeguard company assets and promote operational efficiency in areas such as new product development, new legal entities
Ad Hoc project management: for example - geographic expansion, M&A due diligence and integration, systems implementations, changes in reporting due to changes in regulatory environment
Providing thought leadership within Finance and across the organization
Actively engage in the management, motivation, training and development of Finance employees
The Asia Pacific (APAC) Controller is responsible for the Controllership, Governance and Risk activities for all PayPal operations in APAC, including the International HQ entity incorporated in Singapore. Further, the APAC controller is responsible for leading the team of country controllers in the APAC region. The APAC Controller will report to both the PayPal APAC CFO and PayPal Global Controller.
The APAC Controller is responsible for ensuring there is effective financial control, governance and internal controls across the region, including controls over all accounting ledgers (according to US and local GAAP/IFRS), local statutory and regulatory reporting, direct and indirect tax compliance, risk activities, and compliance with PayPal Policies, Procedures and Practices. The APAC Controller provides support to key business leaders and staff groups including in areas such as geographic expansion and M&A activity. The APAC Controller is a key member of the APAC Finance Leadership team and is expected to contribute strategic and thought leadership to the development of the PayPal and broader eBay Controllership and Finance teams, both regionally and globally.
Qualified Accountant (United States, CPA a plus)
Experience with statutory and regulatory reporting
Experience overseeing internal control environment a plus
Experience with operational and enterprise risk management a plus
Strong, positive managerial experience with a focus on team development
Strong technical accounting background in US GAAP and IFRS
Strong communication and influencing skills
Ability to think and act strategically
Project management
Financial services background a plus
