Director - Procurement - Merck - Singapore

Job description
The role has the responsibility for building high quality procurement performance and capability for a significant annual spend across multiple manufacturing sites across Asia which includes both direct and indirect categories within the plants. In addition, the incumbent will also responsible for regional management of Indirect, Site Services, Chemical, active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and Packaging categories in close partnership with global center of excellence (COE) in these categories.
The Incumbent will take an active role in development of procurement strategy for his/her areas of responsibility working closely with stakeholders and procurement colleagues within the region as well as in the global COEs. In addition, the position will have mixed functional and operational responsibility for enhancing procurement function in Asia. The incumbent will lead an organization consisting of Manufacturing Site Procurement teams at across Asia Pacific and Japan as well as regional category leaders in direct and selected indirect categories. This position has the complexity and difficulty of developing procurement strategy and procurement performance in a decentralized business environment where many independent cultures currently operate. The incumbent is expected to identify and drive opportunities for improving productivity by qualifying low cost country sources from APJ consistent with regional and global Merck needs.

Desired Skills and Experience
Education:
Bachelors of Arts or Science; MBA preferred.

Operations / Technical
Demonstrated business integrity, organizational skills, pro-active and self-motivated with ability to multi-task and manage in a highly matrixed environment
Demonstrated capability to analyze data, highlight exceptions and provide useful insights
Demonstrated Direct and Indirect material category experience
Knowledge of applicable corporate regulations and divisional policies/guidelines.
Proficiency in PC skills, MS Office and related Merck systems
