The AP Epidemiologist lead will work under the supervision of more senior members of the global Epidemiology department & AP MAF VP to provide epidemiology and research support to projects in multiple therapeutic areas (mainly focusing on CNS/neurosciences, immunology, oncology and infectious diseases) in the Asia Pacific region. The person will be expected to keep up to date with the requirements of the Regulatory Agencies in the Asia Pacific region regarding applications of electronic, patient-level databases and other emerging epidemiologic and health outcomes research tools and should remain current with trends in the relevant technology, data, data privacy, and methods.

The primary responsibilities will be:
- To provide real world evidence research support to the Regional AP MAF, Market Access and HEMAR teams and to develop and drive data generation strategies in this area
- To be a member of the TA cross-functional teams defining the strategic plans for data generation for each specific Therapeutic area

- To identify and evaluate existing external electronic, patient-level database(s) in the Asia Pacific countries; to determine the extent, linkage, and quality of the databases for observational studies
- To explore these external electronic databases to evaluate disease natural history, clinical and surrogate endpoints, and medication and device safety/benefit questions, and to work with clinical and Medical Affairs colleagues to improve the design and conduct of clinical research in the region
- To establish access and collaboration with ongoing population-based studies, including surveys, disease registries, and other epidemiologic studies relevant to therapeutic areas of interest
- To provide data support for marketing strategy prioritized on a case-by-case basis
- To conduct a landscape analysis of potential collaborators, including local academics, government officials, and vendors
- To provide training/educational support and research collaborations in health outcomes; to plan targeted and collaborative education and training programs
- To define research questions, develop epidemiologic protocols, and implement solutions
- To build protocols and provide methodological support for data generation activities in AP regional and Local MAF plans linked to real world evidence /epidemiological questions
- To actively drive the project for establishing the Registry strategy in AP for the TAs
- To provide support to the local operation company AP for their local real world evidence/ epidemiology research projects
- To mentor and help supervise country-based epidemiology/health outcomes individuals, in collaboration with their respective local operating companies

Qualifications

Required:

- Master or PhD Degree in epidemiology, health outcomes research or a closely related field, or MD with training and graduate degree in Epidemiology or a closely related field;
- minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in real world evidence research;
- a sophisticated understanding and the ability to interpret quantitative methods;
- minimum 1 year pharmaceutical or Medical Device and Diagnostics industry experience; experience with writing study proposals and/or proposal requests or background on specific diseases, conditions, or therapies;
- experience working with large administrative or medical records databases and prospective observational studies;
- experience working with health authorities, academics, and healthcare professionals; phase III/IV experience;
- Asia pacific experience;
- fluent in English (Reading, writing, and speaking).

Location & Travel

- Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong or Australia. There is no relocation support.
- Between 20-40% travel
